In Loving Memory of our Beloved Honorary Member of CCF, Modiller McDaniel Canady

Modiller McDaniel Canady, of Cleveland, Arkansas, transitioned from this life on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Heritage Nursing Center and she will be greatly missed. She was born December 29, 1928, in Cleveland, Arkansas to James E. and Mary McDaniel. Modiller married L.C. Canady in August 1947 and to this Union, ten children were born. Mom’s full-time job was being a housewife and raising her children and many of her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

Mom joined Moores Chapel AME Zion Church at an early age and worked faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, quarterly conference secretary, choir member, and deaconess until her health would not allow her to continue in those positions. She loved her church and her church family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Canady; parents, James E. and Mary McDaniel; three brothers, James McDaniel (Mary), Odis McDaniel, and Ernest McDaniel (Betty).

Mom leaves to cherish her loving memory, her children, Mary Gibson-Sanders (Eddie) of Kansas City, Missouri, Irma Carter (Calvin) of Little Rock, Charles Canady of Morrilton, Sherry Thomas of Kansas City, Missouri, Lois Canady of Kansas City, Missouri, Precilla Williams of Kansas City, Missouri, Clara Garlington (Ray) of Morrilton, Mary Newsome (Jeff) of Morrilton, Joe Canady (Marsha) of Morrilton, and Tracy Canady (Tracey) of Morrilton; one goddaughter, Brenda Hobbs of Conway; her brothers, Levi McDaniel (Arlestia) of Kansas City, Missouri and Luther McDaniel (Edwinna) of Raytown, Missouri; brother-in-law, Fletcher Canady (Melanise) of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Willie Jo Foster of Twin Groves. Mom is also survived by her 38 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; special friends, Reola White and Renee McDaniel, both of Morrilton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, at the Harris Chapel with Rev. Rick Lee officiating. Burial will be at Moore’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
