Male and Female”
—Genesis 1:27
“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
Message: God created male and female. Why? God wants to grow humanity, and one of God’s instructions to Adam and Eve is to procreate (reproduce); The Christian concept of marriage and sexual morality is told to us in God's creation of the world, (Gen 1, 2), and specifically why God created man and woman. Genesis 1:26-28 tells us that God created both man and woman to bear his image, and this included multiplying and spreading across the earth and having dominion over it.
The Bible is clear; sex was created to be enjoyed between one man and one woman who are in a covenant marriage until one of them dies (Mat 19:6) and (Gen 2:21-24); “You shall not commit adultery” (Exo 20:14); “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination” (Lev 18:22). God created woman as a suitable helper and companion to man. But, the distress and drama that contaminates so much of what marriage is today is not what God intended. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
